Justin Sun's legal team has filed for sanctions against World Liberty Financial (WLFI), accusing the company of circumventing federal jurisdiction by disclosing the UAE citizenship of a shareholder months after the lawsuit was filed. Sun signed an agreement in November 2024 to purchase $30 million worth of WLFI, later increasing his investment to $45 million. In April of this year, he sued World Liberty Financial for fraud and illegally freezing tokens. Following an August hearing, World Liberty Financial corrected its disclosure documents, increasing the number of ownership members from 1 to 22 and claiming UAE citizenship, arguing that the federal court lacked jurisdiction. Sun stated that he will re-file the lawsuit in California state court after the sanctions motion is ruled on.
