Hong Kong plans to expand its tax incentives to include digital assets and precious metals as eligible investments.

--

Hong Kong's Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Chan Ho-lim, stated that Hong Kong will optimize its tax incentive regime for funds, single-family offices, and attached interests, expanding the tax exemption scope to large-scale single-investor funds and including digital assets, precious metals, loans, and private debt investments in eligible investments. Once the relevant amendment bill is passed, the measures can be implemented from the 2025/26 tax year. Hong Kong's Central Gold Clearing and Settlement System will be launched in the first quarter of next year, providing clearing services for international standard over-the-counter gold trading.
