OFAC warns Iran of paying tolls for passage through the Strait of Hormuz or involving sanctions

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury Department has warned that Iran's requirement for passing ships to pay "tolls" to ensure security through the Strait of Hormuz, including fiat currency, digital assets, offset transactions, physical payments, and donations to the Iranian Red Crescent, Bonyad Mostazafan, or Iranian embassy accounts, may violate US sanctions against Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
