Maersk suspends shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and launches emergency plan

--

The conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran has led to a deterioration of security in the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in the suspension of ship passage and the activation of emergency plans, including land transportation of goods. Carsten Kildahl, Chief Commercial Officer, stated that this move protects the crew but increases economic pressure. Gulf trade and other routes have incurred additional monthly costs exceeding $500 million due to diversion and fuel increases. The company is unable to fully bear the cost and is shifting some of the costs to customers. Industry insiders say that rising transportation and production costs may affect consumer prices.
