British teenager sanctioned by Russia for exposing encrypted money laundering network

--

British teenager Alexander Browder has stated that he has been placed on a sanctions list by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and banned from entering the country for writing a report exposing Russian backed cryptocurrency money laundering networks. The report states that countries such as Russia, Iran, and North Korea launder approximately $350 billion in money, with the A7A5 ruble stablecoin being one of the main issues in Western anti money laundering efforts. The UK Foreign Office stated that Russia has used tokens such as A7A5 to evade sanctions and provide funding for the military. The UK government sanctioned individuals related to the network in May, which transferred over $90 billion in funds last year. Alexander Browder is proud to be the first high school student in the world to be sanctioned by an authoritarian regime for exposing corruption. (euronews)
