South Korean police investigate Kim Byung ki's involvement in rent-seeking and Bithumb job placement

South Korean police raided Bithumb to investigate allegations that lawmaker Kim Byung ki used his influence to secure a position for his son, who joined in January 2025 and worked for about six months. The case involves Dunamu, and the investigation scope has been expanded to include rent-seeking and interest transfer. Jin Bingji is under investigation for 13 charges and believes it can prove his innocence. In March of this year, Bithumb was fined $24.5 million (approximately $245 million) for KYC and anti money laundering violations, and the court suspended the punishment in April.
