Guys, if you're always watching the charts, don’t sit for too long, or you might end up with piriformis syndrome. Get up and move around! Out of nowhere, I started feeling this soreness and pain in my lower back. No injuries from working out, but it’s been on and off for 2 months now, and I finally found out it’s piriformis syndrome. It’s mainly caused by spasms, inflammation, thickening, or adhesions of the piriformis muscle, which compress or irritate the sciatic nerve, leading to pain in the butt. It’s so uncomfortable—lifting my leg hurts, sitting for too long makes it sore and tight, and it’s already affecting my daily life. Went to the hospital for an MRI, and thankfully, my femoral head is fine. Turns out it’s just the piriformis muscle pressing on the nerve. The piriformis is located deep in the gluteal muscles, so regular massages or physical therapy don’t really reach it. Just had acupuncture done... and wow, those needles are LONG. The nurse jabbed it in super fast, and the soreness and tightness were off the charts. They even used electrotherapy—once the current hit, my whole muscle started twitching like it was dancing. The feeling? A mix of pain and relief. I have to go back for another acupuncture session tomorrow. If it doesn’t improve, I might have to get a corticosteroid injection… Tips for improvement: - Get up and move around every 30-60 minutes, and change your sitting posture. - Strengthen your core, glutes, and hip flexibility. - Maintain good posture (adjust chair height, support your lower back). - Warm up before exercising, and avoid sudden intense movements.
