Illinois signs Digital Asset Tax Act, which will impose a 0.2% tax on cryptocurrency transactions

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed the Digital Asset Tax Act on Tuesday, imposing a 0.2% tax on digital asset transactions or services provided to customers in Illinois based on transaction value. The bill will take effect on January 1, 2027. This tax is aimed at encryption service providers, requiring them to collect and pay taxes on their behalf. Crypto Council for Innovation、Digital Chamber、Illinois Blockchain Association Industry organizations oppose the bill.
