Pakistan State Oil bids for LNG procurement, Qatar supply interrupted
Pakistan State Oil has issued an emergency tender to purchase one ship of LNG to be delivered on July 15-16, with a bidding deadline of Friday. The cancellation of goods originally scheduled to be delivered by Qatar this month has resulted in Pakistan State Oil being approved for bidding. The US strikes against Iran for two consecutive days have caused a halt in shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, and a ship carrying Qatar's natural gas to Pakistan stopped sailing earlier this week. Almost all LNG in Pakistan is purchased through long-term contracts with Qatar, which has been facing energy shortages since the Middle East conflict in late February. Recently, two ships of spot goods have been purchased to fill the supply gap.
