[UBS: High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) demand expected to grow 90% year-on-year in 2026, with another 77% growth in 2027] Reported by Golden Finance, on July 10, according to UBS Group's July 'Monthly Storage Chip Report,' monthly sales reached a record $74.6 billion, a month-on-month increase of 31.7%. UBS stated that as demand for artificial intelligence (AI) continues to grow and long-term supply agreement (LTA) negotiations remain ongoing, the storage chip market cycle is 'further strengthening,' with structural supply shortages expected to persist at least until mid-2028. Overall, UBS projects that the total annual revenue of the storage chip industry will reach $992 billion in 2026. By 2027, this figure is expected to nearly double to $1.76 trillion. The firm highlighted that the primary driver of this growth is High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), a type of DRAM specifically designed for AI accelerators (such as NVIDIA's GPUs). UBS forecasts that HBM demand will grow 90% year-on-year in 2026, reaching approximately 33.1 billion Gb. Demand is expected to grow another 77% in 2027, reaching approximately 58.7 billion Gb.
