[OpenAI Responds to Issues with High Compute Mode Usage Notifications: Codex and ChatGPT Work Quotas Urgently Reset] Odaily Planet Daily News – Tibo, a core member of OpenAI Codex, posted on the X platform stating that it was previously too easy for users to enable high compute mode without adequately explaining its impact on usage quotas. The large-scale redesign of the desktop application made commonly used features like chat and projects harder to locate. Additionally, promotional efforts overly focused on ChatGPT Work, leading some Codex users to mistakenly believe that Codex would be phased out in the future. Moreover, the new version caused issues with certain multi-agent workflows, plugin functionalities, and other user experiences. In response to these problems, OpenAI has introduced the first batch of improvements, including adjusting default settings and the model selector to prevent users from inadvertently using high-cost configurations, fixing multiple plugin submission issues, optimizing Codex's presentation within the product, and addressing some desktop experience issues. Over the past 24 hours, OpenAI has been collecting user feedback, analyzing usage patterns, and engaging with users. While the market has shown strong interest in GPT 5.6 Sol as well as the web and mobile versions of ChatGPT Work, OpenAI has acknowledged several issues with this update. As of now, two rounds of quota recharges for Codex and ChatGPT Work have been completed. A larger-scale update is scheduled to go live next week, during which chat and project functionalities will return to the sidebar in a more familiar and customizable format. Additionally, the platform will enhance the visibility of usage quotas and reset times, further clarifying the respective use cases for ChatGPT Work and Codex.
