Oman proposed in negotiations with Iran to establish two independent shipping routes for the Strait of Hormuz. The southern route passes through Oman's territorial waters for free passage of ships, while the northern route passes through Iran's territorial waters with prior permission and no toll fees. Oman and Iran are still in talks regarding the relevant agreement.
