Former assistant to South Korean independent lawmaker suspected of pressuring Upbit, police have intervened in investigation

According to the National Daily, former assistant to South Korean independent lawmaker Kim Byung ki is suspected of pressuring Upbit through the Financial Supervisory Authority to end its stablecoin trading fee discount activities in support of Bithumb during his tenure. The person requested Upbit to normalize stablecoin fees in February last year, and Upbit subsequently terminated related activities at the end of February last year. Kim Byung ki's second son worked as an intern at Bithumb from January to June last year, and the former assistant became an informal consultant at Bithumb after 7 months. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Department's Public Crime Search Team has launched an investigation based on testimony to determine whether the individual had any requests or connections to the activities of Congressman Kim Byung ki during their transfer to Bithumb.
