The Procuratorate Daily suggests considering the use of coin mixers and privacy coins as signals of money laundering intent

--

According to an article published in the Procuratorate Daily, if a suspect uses a coin mixer or privacy coin without providing reasonable evidence to the contrary, the court can infer their criminal intent and use on chain records and reports from blockchain analysis companies as evidence. The article suggests establishing a national level platform to dispose of seized cryptocurrencies. Chinese prosecutors will prosecute over 3000 individuals involved in cryptocurrency money laundering in 2024. According to Chainalysis data, Chinese money laundering networks will handle approximately $16 billion in funds by 2025, accounting for about one-fifth of the global cryptocurrency money laundering total.
