NEW: Stripe and Advent International have offered to acquire PayPal for $53 billion, according to Reuters. Both Stripe and PayPal have been aggressively expanding into stablecoins — Stripe is leading the Open USD consortium while PayPal is expanding its own stablecoin, PYUSD.
