MetaMask hires North Korean hackers without causing substantial losses
According to DeFi researcher @ Zun2025, MetaMask hired a hacker associated with DPRK as a developer. The hacker's GitHub account imyugioh has been publicly available on the Lazarus Group website since September 2025, but MetaMask still hired him in March 2026. The North Korean hacker Tyler Knapp, who was infiltrated by the MetaMask team, entered through a human resources supplier in an outsourced manner, bypassed background checks, worked for a month, and participated in the development of wallet fiat currency deposit and withdrawal functions. MetaMask discovered the hacker due to abnormal IP and behavior, revoked its permissions, and suspended the release of related products, without causing any substantial data or financial losses.
