The US House of Representatives passes the Stop Insider Trading Act, causing divisions within the Democratic Party

--

According to Politico, the US House of Representatives passed the Stop Insider Trading Act on Wednesday, which restricts members of Congress and their families from buying and selling stocks. The bill was passed with 232 votes to 198, with 13 Democratic lawmakers voting in favor. Due to some Democrats believing that the bill lacks sufficient strength, there have been divisions within the party. Another bill that requires lawmakers and their families to sell their existing holdings has not entered the full House voting process, and will be submitted to the Senate for review.
