[Toshiba Returns as Kioxia's Largest Shareholder, SK Hynix Expected to Become the Second Largest Shareholder] According to Korean media reports, after Bain Capital sold the majority of its shares in Kioxia, Toshiba has regained its position as Kioxia's largest shareholder, holding approximately 15%. SK Hynix, through a special purpose company holding convertible bonds, indirectly holds about 14% equity. If the conversion of bonds is completed, SK Hynix is expected to become Kioxia's second-largest shareholder. Bain Capital acquired Toshiba Memory in 2018 and has now exited with a profit of approximately 2.5 trillion yen (around $22 billion). SK Hynix invested approximately 395 billion yen in the form of convertible bonds but currently does not have voting rights, as the equity conversion is still subject to regulatory review.
