Goldman Sachs: S&P 500 index expected to rise to 8000 points, stock demand will continue to exceed supply

--

John Flood, a partner at Goldman Sachs and head of US stock execution services, stated that the expected size of US equity issuances in 2026 is at a historic high, but stock demand will continue to exceed supply, and the S&P 500 index is expected to rise to 8000 points. Goldman Sachs expects the total amount of equity issuances in the United States to reach $700 billion by 2026, with IPO issuances exceeding $225 billion and other issuances totaling approximately $450 billion. Since the beginning of the year, US companies have authorized buybacks worth $989 billion, and Goldman Sachs expects the scale of public market stock buybacks to reach $1.4 trillion for the full year of 2026. As mega tech companies are expected to spend over $1 trillion annually on capital expenditures in the coming years, other companies are also supporting their AI investment plans through financing.
