[U.S. Treasury to At Least Double the Scale of Long-Term Treasury Buyback Operations] Odaily Planet Daily News: The U.S. Treasury Department has announced that it is at least doubling the scale of liquidity support buyback operations for long-term nominal coupon securities, covering two maturity ranges: 10 to 20 years and 20 to 30 years. Currently, the maximum scale for each operation is $2 billion, and in the future, the scale for each operation will be increased to at least $4 billion. The adjustment will take effect on September 9, 2026, and will be implemented for the remainder of this refinancing quarter (ending November 4, 2026). The U.S. Treasury will provide more information on future buyback scales at the next quarterly refinancing meeting scheduled for November 4, 2026. This expansion of buyback operations reflects the Treasury's intention to provide stronger liquidity support for the long-term nominal Treasury market. The Treasury will release updated temporary Treasury buyback arrangements at a later date. (Jin10)
