EU finance ministers from six countries jointly send letter calling for taxation of oil companies
The finance ministers of six EU member states, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland, and Austria, jointly sent a letter to the rotating EU presidency of Ireland, calling on EU member states to discuss a mechanism at the EU finance ministers' meeting in September to impose taxes on oil companies that have made "huge profits" due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and energy supply shocks.
