UK's HM Revenue and Customs releases first capital gains tax data on crypto assets, with 17600 people declaring profits
On August 27th, the UK's HM Revenue and Customs released data showing that a total of 17600 individuals declared cryptocurrency income for the 2024-2025 tax year, with a total disposal income of £ 13.8 billion and realized income of £ 1.38 billion. Male taxpayers account for 87% of the applicants and contribute 93% of the profits. Taxpayers with profits of over £ 1 million account for less than 2% and contribute more than half of the profits; Taxpayers with profits below £ 25000 account for 65%, contributing 7% to 8% of the profits. 81% of the applicants are under the age of 54, with 54% of them being between the ages of 25 and 44.
