Thinking Machines is seeking $1 billion in funding at a valuation of $40 billion

--

According to TechCrunch, Thinking Machines, an AI company founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, is in talks to raise $1 billion at a valuation of $40 billion, led by Accel. The company was established at the beginning of last year and launched the open-source weight model Inkling in July. It charges computing power fees based on usage through the Tinker platform, with an annual revenue of over 100 million US dollars. Thinking Machines has completed a $2 billion financing at a valuation of $12 billion, led by a16z with participation from Nvidia, GV, and others. Several co founders, including Lilian Weng and Luke Metz, have returned to OpenAI. If this round is completed, the valuation will be lower than the rumored target of $50 billion at the end of last year.
