The United Nations Security Council convenes an emergency meeting to discuss the escalation of the situation in the Mandeb Strait

On September 15th, the United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting on the escalation of the situation in the Mandeb Strait. The Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations reported that the fighting on the west coast of Yemen has escalated recently, and the tension between the Strait of Mandeb and the Strait of Hormuz continues. The United Nations warns that the escalation of the situation will affect international peace and security, global energy markets, food security, and the economies of many countries. It calls on all parties to exercise restraint and participate in UN led political mediation. This meeting was requested by Bahrain, Denmark, France, Greece, Latvia, and the United Kingdom.
