The US House of Representatives passed the Rate Payer Protection Act with 417 votes in favor and 3 votes against, requiring data centers with peak demand of 100 megawatts or more to bear all incremental costs of grid upgrades and provide financial guarantees or funding. The bill still needs to be passed by the Senate.
