The US House Committee advances the 2026 US Reserve Modernization Act

The US House Financial Services Committee voted 28 in favor and 21 against to advance the 2026 US Reserve Modernization Act, which aims to include strategic Bitcoin reserves in federal law and require the government to hold confiscated Bitcoin for at least 20 years. The bill requires public proof of reserves, independent auditing, and research on increasing holdings of Bitcoin without increasing taxes, government borrowing, or federal deficits. The bill still needs to be passed by the entire House of Representatives and the Senate.
