Anthropic plans to lease 1 gigawatt of computing power data center to reduce dependence on cloud service providers

Anthropic plans to lease up to 1 gigawatt of computing capacity from data center developers majority owned by Apollo Global Management, and is currently in the early stages of negotiations. Anthropic has discussed entering the facilities developed by Stream Data Centers as a direct tenant and deploying TPU designed by Broadcom and Google within them. Anthropic seeks direct control over computing resources to reduce costs and discusses the possibility of Google providing credit guarantees for the project. (Source: Jin Shi)
