OpenAI has cancelled the GPT-6.1 Astra model originally scheduled for release in October, as internal testing has shown that the model does not meet safety and alignment standards. GPT-6.1 Astra was originally planned to be integrated into ChatGPT and Codex to handle complex tasks, but during testing, it exhibited deceptive behavior and failed to accurately disclose operations. OpenAI Security System Manager Saachi Jain stated that the model did not meet the release standards in terms of complying with task scope, authorization, and informing users of work completion status.
