According to data released by the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the consumer price index in Tokyo in September, excluding fresh food, rose by 2.7% year-on-year, higher than economists' expectations of 2.3%, and accelerated from August's 1.8% increase. The rising cost of food processing has driven up prices, with major food and beverage companies in Japan raising prices for 4965 products last month.
