Japan adds Russian cryptocurrency exchange Garantex to sanctions list

The Japanese government has added the Russian cryptocurrency exchange Garantex to its asset freeze list, restricting payments and capital transactions with sanctioned entities. The newly added asset freeze targets include 33 institutions and 9 individuals associated with Russia, and restricts maintenance, insurance, and other services for 35 Shadow Fleet vessels identified as involved in transporting Russian crude oil. Garantex has been sanctioned by jurisdictions such as the United States and the European Union.
