US Congressman Don Davis proposes a bill to prohibit candidates from trading their own election contracts
US Congressman Don Davis proposed the "Prohibition of Voting on Your Own Elections Act", which aims to prohibit federal candidates from trading contracts related to their own elections in the prediction market. Violators will be fined $10000 or three times the net profit of the transaction, whichever is higher. The proposal stems from Laurie Buckhout reaching a settlement with the platform for trading her own election contract and paying a fine of $2600, while being suspended from using the platform for three years.
