Greece plans to impose a 10% tax on capital gains from cryptocurrencies, with annual returns up to 500 euros exempt from taxes

--

Greece plans to legislate a 10% tax on capital gains from cryptocurrencies. The draft bill has been released and entered the public consultation stage, and is expected to be submitted to parliament for review in November. The draft stipulates that individuals are exempt from taxes on a portion of their annual cryptocurrency capital gains up to 500 euros (approximately 559.95 US dollars). Greece currently does not have a legal framework for cryptocurrency taxation, and the government has not yet made predictions on the fiscal revenue generated by the new tax.
