According to Chainalysis, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury Department, the Department for Foreign Affairs and Development (FCDO) of the UK, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of Australia jointly sanctioned Zservers, a Russian Bulletproof Hosting (BPH) service provider, on February 11th, accusing them of providing critical infrastructure support to the ransomware group LockBit. Zservers are considered an important link in the Russian cybercrime supply chain, providing anonymous hosting services for cybercriminals to support ransomware attacks, including those targeting hospitals in the UK. This sanction also involves two Russian citizens (Aleksandr Bolshakov and Alexander Mishin), four employees of Zservers, and their British shell company XHOST Internet Solutions LP. On chain data shows that Zservers have financial dealings with multiple ransomware groups, involving at least $5.2 million in encrypted transactions, with some funds flowing to OFAC sanctioned trading platform Garantex and KYC free exchanges.
