BBX Stock Account vs. Tokenized Stocks vs. Perps: What Do You Actually Own?

Quick answer: BBX provides three different ways to access stock-related markets through a stablecoin-funded platform: BBX Stock Account, BBX Tokenized Stocks, and BBX Perps. They are not interchangeable. A Stock Account is a route to real U.S. and Hong Kong shares through partner securities infrastructure. Tokenized Stocks are stock-related onchain spot tokens. Perps are derivatives that provide exposure to a reference asset without ownership of that asset.

The most useful question is not simply “Can I trade this ticker with USDT?” It is “What exactly will I hold after the trade?”

The three routes may reference the same company, but a familiar ticker does not guarantee the same ownership, rights, settlement method or risks.

1. BBX Stock Account: stablecoin-funded access to real shares

BBX Stock Account is the route for eligible users who want to trade real U.S. and Hong Kong stocks through the traditional securities market infrastructure connected to BBX. BBX's About page describes access to more than 6,000 U.S. and Hong Kong stocks through its stock offering. That number belongs to the Stock Account business; it is not a count of stock tokens or perpetual markets on BBX DEX.

How funding and trading work

  1. Fund your BBX account. Deposit supported stablecoins, such as USDT or USDC, into the Funding Account.
  2. Move funds to the Stock Account. Transfer funds within BBX's account system. Stock purchases are executed using the appropriate securities-market currency rather than settling the stock itself directly in USDT onchain.
  3. Trade a supported stock. U.S. stocks are traded using the available USD balance; Hong Kong stocks use HKD after the applicable currency conversion. Orders are handled through the relevant partner securities infrastructure and market rules.

BBX's Stablecoin Stock Trading documentation describes the funding and trading workflow. U.S. stock orders are executed by a FINRA-registered partner broker-dealer, with clearing and custody provided by a partner clearing institution; Hong Kong stock trades are executed through a partner securities institution licensed by Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).

What rights come with the position?

A Stock Account position is a position in real shares under the applicable brokerage holding structure, not a stock-price token or a perpetual contract. Dividend distributions, voting instructions and corporate actions are administered according to the share class, partner arrangements and applicable account rules. Users should not assume that every corporate action is processed identically across U.S. and Hong Kong markets.

Trading hours: Stock trading follows the relevant market sessions and the availability shown in BBX's trading interface. The DEX's 24/7 schedule does not apply automatically to Stock Account orders.

2. BBX Tokenized Stocks: stock-related tokens traded onchain

BBX Tokenized Stocks refers to tokenized-stock spot products traded through BBX DEX. The asset received is a token, not a conventional share position booked in the BBX Stock Account.

The issuer, custody of underlying assets, and rights attached to a tokenized stock are governed by that token’s issuance documents and BBX’s published product rules. However a token describes its relationship to the underlying shares, holding it does not automatically make you a registered shareholder of the listed company, nor does it necessarily carry the same protections as shares held in a securities account.

The following distinctions are important:

  • Ownership: Holding a BBX tokenized-stock instrument does not, by itself, mean the holder is entered on the underlying company's share register or owns shares through a Stock Account.
  • Voting and distributions: Ordinary shareholder voting rights do not automatically follow the token.
  • Issuer and custody risks: Stock-related tokens involve issuer and custody risks beyond those of a conventional Stock Account share.
  • Trading: Tokenized-stock spot trading takes place through BBX DEX spot infrastructure. Check the relevant trading screen for listed assets and trading pairs.

The distinction matters because two instruments referencing the same listed company can have different issuer and custody structures. For additional background on why tokenized securities have different legal structures, see the U.S. SEC staff's statement on tokenized securities.

3. BBX Perps: derivative exposure, not stock ownership

BBX Perps are USDT-margined and USDT-settled perpetual contracts on BBX DEX. They can reference stocks and other assets, including ETFs, indices, commodities and cryptoassets. Users open long or short positions rather than buying the underlying share, ETF unit or commodity.

A perpetual position:

  • Does not make the trader a shareholder of the referenced company.
  • Does not provide voting rights or ordinary share dividends.
  • Requires margin and may incur trading fees and funding payments during the holding period.
  • Can be liquidated if margin and risk requirements are not maintained.

Leverage is determined by the specific contract and its risk settings. BBX's perpetual-trading documentation states that selected stock-related contracts support up to 75x leverage, not that every stock contract offers 75x. The live contract page determines the available leverage, funding rate, mark price, margin requirements and trading status.

Perps can be useful for deliberate price exposure, hedging or directional trading, but higher leverage can magnify losses and liquidation risk.

How fees differ across the three products

Fees are product-specific, so a single platform-wide rate would be misleading.

Stock Account: Stock trades involve BBX service charges, as well as applicable charges from partner securities providers and the relevant markets, including exchange, regulatory, clearing and tax items where required. Fee components and amounts vary by market and order. Check BBX’s latest fee information and the trading interface for the charges applicable to your order.

Tokenized Stocks: BBX DEX spot trading is subject to the applicable trading fee schedule. Refer to the latest product rules and trading interface for details.

Perps: BBX DEX perpetual trading is subject to trading fees. Funding payments may also apply while a position is open; these are distinct from trading fees. Refer to the current contract rules and trading interface for details.

Which BBX route fits your objective?

Choose BBX Stock Account when you are looking for a real-share position within the relevant securities brokerage framework and are eligible for the product. Confirm shareholding arrangements, corporate-action handling, trading hours and account terms.

Consider BBX Tokenized Stocks when you specifically want a supported stock-related token in an onchain spot environment. Review the token’s issuer and custody arrangements, holder rights and risks; do not assume it is equivalent to holding shares in a securities account.

Consider BBX Perps only when you intentionally want a derivative position, including the option to go long or short, and understand margin, funding and liquidation risks. A stock-linked perpetual is never a substitute for share ownership.

Explore the three BBX routes

Bottom line: BBX connects different markets through a common stablecoin-funded experience, but a real share, a stock-related token and a perpetual contract are three different holdings. Identify the exact product, the rights attached to it, and the exit and risk rules before trading.

FAQ

Are BBX Stock Account shares and BBX tokenized stocks the same thing?

No. A Stock Account is a route to real shares held through applicable securities-account arrangements. A tokenized-stock position is an onchain stock-related token. The same stock ticker does not make them legally interchangeable.

If I buy a tokenized stock, do I become a shareholder of the company?

Not merely by acquiring the token. The token should not be treated as conventional shareholder registration or a BBX Stock Account share.

Can I trade all three products 24/7?

No. BBX DEX supports 24/7 tokenized-stock spot trading and perpetual trading. Real-stock trading in BBX Stock Account follows the applicable U.S. or Hong Kong market sessions and platform support.

Do tokenized stocks carry the same protections as real shares?

Not necessarily. Holder rights, issuer obligations, asset custody and legal protections depend on the specific product’s issuance documents and applicable rules. They should not be assumed to be the same as those of shares held in a securities account.

Who executes and holds my Stock Account shares?

U.S. stock orders are executed by a FINRA-registered partner broker-dealer, with clearing and custody provided by a partner clearing institution; Hong Kong stock trades are executed through a partner securities institution licensed by Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).

Will tokenized stocks or perpetuals pay me the underlying company's dividend?

A tokenized-stock position does not automatically confer ordinary shareholder cash-dividend rights, and a perpetual contract does not grant dividends from the underlying company. Corporate actions and market events may still affect prices and contract parameters.

How do I exit each BBX position?

Sell shares through the Stock Account, sell tokens through BBX DEX spot trading, or reduce or close a perpetual position.

Who can use these BBX products?

Product access depends on jurisdiction, eligibility, verification requirements and applicable terms. Access to one BBX product does not automatically grant access to every other product. Check the account interface and [BBX's legal terms](https://bbx.com/user-agreement) before trading.
