According to Josh Stevens, Vice President of Engineering at Polymarket, with the assistance of ZachXBT, BitcoinVN, and ChangeNOW, $164000 of stolen funds have been frozen in the Polymarket private key leak incident, accounting for approximately 28.6% of the total transferred amount of $573200. The incident did not affect Polymarket or UMA smart contracts, ensuring the safety of user funds and normal platform operations. The investigation shows that the accident was caused by the leakage of a private key that has been in existence for about 6 years. The private key was used for internal recharge configuration, resulting in funds being sent to the affected address. The team is currently tracking the flow of the remaining stolen funds.
