PayPal announces second quarter financial report, with revenue reaching $8.68 billion

PayPal's Q2 earnings per share were $1.26, compared to $1.30 in the same period last year, which was lower than analysts' expectations of $1.28; Revenue reached 8.68 billion US dollars, higher than the 82.9 million US dollars in the same period last year and the analyst consensus expectation of 84.7 billion US dollars. PayPal recorded a non GAAP adjustment of $81 million, involving gains and losses related to strategic investments and holdings of cryptocurrency assets for investment purposes. PayPal is leveraging its payment network, risk infrastructure, and trust capabilities to expand proxy payments, stablecoins, identity and biometric technologies, and facilitate a total payment of approximately $200 million between Venmo and PayPal.
