According to Bitcoin News on the X platform, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) in the United States has proposed new accounting guidelines that classify stablecoins as cash equivalents in corporate financial statements. Eligible digital assets must possess features such as cash redemption on demand, direct redemption of a certain amount of cash from the issuer by the holder, segregated management of reserve assets, and full 1:1 support from short-term high liquidity assets (DART). FASB clarifies that the definition of cash equivalents applies to digital assets such as stablecoins, and companies are required to disclose important components of cash equivalents annually. This proposal is open for public comment until November 19, 2026.
