Galaxy Research: FTC's guidance on Mention Markets difficult to address structural manipulation risks

Galaxy Research stated that the guidance issued by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for Mention Markets is difficult to address the structural manipulation risks present in individual opinion prediction markets. Galaxy Research points out that the Mention Markets contract settles directly based on the autonomous behavior of specific individuals, which is fundamentally different from traditional event contracts where the outcome is not controlled by individuals, and therefore carries a higher risk of manipulation.
