As of July this year, in the past 12 months, overseas investors have net bought about $942 billion in US stocks and funds, reaching a new high since statistics began in 1985. During the same period, overseas funds' buying of US bonds has weakened. The yield on 10-year US Treasury bonds has risen to its highest level since 2007, while the spread between 2-year and 10-year bonds has narrowed to 17 basis points. The Bank of Japan raised interest rates to 1.25% in September, and some members discussed accelerating the rate hike. Beisen believes that the core CPI will increase by 2.4% annually, which is higher than the Federal Reserve's target of 2%.
