Previously, Vitalik Buterin had published an article warning that AI-accelerated mathematical research could, within the next two years, weaken the security of lattice-based cryptographic systems, including technologies like ML-DSA and fully homomorphic encryption (FHE). He also noted that it might even pose a risk to breaking ECDSA. As a result, Ethereum's Lean roadmap has shifted toward a pure hash-based signature scheme.
