The Thai Securities and Exchange Commission allows Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs to be listed on the Thai Stock Exchange
The Thai Securities and Exchange Commission allows Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs to be listed on the Thai Stock Exchange, with the rules taking effect on October 16, 2026. Initially, depositary receipts linked to overseas cryptocurrency ETFs are not allowed, and Thai securities firms are not allowed to assist retail investors in investing in overseas cryptocurrency ETFs. Institutional investors and ultra-high net worth individuals are not subject to this restriction. Mutual funds and private equity funds can invest in cryptocurrency ETFs established in Thailand. The relevant ETFs must adopt a passive investment approach, track the prices of cryptocurrency assets, and have an average net exposure of at least 80% of the net asset value for a single cryptocurrency. Securities firms are not allowed to provide margin financing, and fund assets must be kept by digital asset custody institutions regulated by the Thai Securities and Exchange Commission.
