Sara Briden: UK not in a hurry to launch digital pound Britcoin for now

--

Sarah Briden, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, stated during the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund that the UK is currently not in a hurry to launch the digital pound Britcoin, and whether to proceed with the project depends on whether innovative payment schemes such as commercial stablecoins and bank tokenized deposits can achieve tokenization benefits. Sara Briden hopes that British businesses can develop a successful GBP stablecoin, avoiding UK residents and businesses from only being able to use innovative payment services through USD stablecoins.
