Starting from July 2027, the Russian Central Bank will prohibit individuals from directly engaging in P2P encrypted transactions
The Russian Central Bank stated that the arrangement for individuals to directly engage in peer-to-peer trading of encrypted assets will continue until July 1, 2027, after which relevant transactions must be completed through authorized intermediaries, and individuals are not allowed to transfer encrypted assets from digital accounts to self custodial wallets. Sberbank has been granted permission to provide cryptocurrency trading services. The new regulatory rules for encrypted assets in Russia came into effect on September 1st, bringing trading operators and custodians under the supervision of the Russian Central Bank. The country prohibits the use of cryptocurrency to pay for goods and services. Samson Mow stated that P2P transactions are more resistant to regulatory attacks than centralized platforms.
