The US Department of Justice has reached a deferred prosecution agreement with Roger Ver, who is required to pay a fine of $49.9 million to withdraw fraud and tax evasion charges. Roger Ver bought Bitcoin at a cost of $3 million in 2011 and held at least 131000 bitcoins worth over $70 million when he renounced his US citizenship in 2014. Roger Ver only declared $1.03 million in taxes and underestimated the company's assets. After the US Internal Revenue Service discovered his tax evasion behavior, the tax, fines, and interest were recovered. (Source: US Department of Justice)
