On November 7, lawyers for the U.S. Department of Justice and Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook requested a federal judge to suspend the legal battle over President Trump's attempt to remove Cook from office, pending a White House hearing scheduled for next month. The Justice Department and Cook's legal team submitted a joint report to U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb on Friday, recommending the court suspend upcoming deadlines and providing the judge with an update in early January. This summer, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that President Trump failed to provide Lisa Cook with a proper opportunity to defend herself before his initial attempt to remove her from office last year, allowing Cook to remain in her position temporarily and remanding the case to Jia Cobb. In August of this year, President Trump restarted his efforts to remove Cook from office.
