German citizen charged with money laundering of over $2 million for operating Dream Market

According to the US Department of Justice, German citizen Owe Martin Andresen has been charged with operating the closed dark web marketplace Dream Market and laundering over $2 million through cryptocurrency and purchasing gold bars. The investigation stated that Dream Market has been used for illegal transactions such as drugs and fake documents. German police arrested Andresen on May 7th and seized approximately $1.7 million in gold bars and $1.2 million in assets related to the case. The United States has filed 12 money laundering charges against him, each of which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
