Wang Junjie: China's integrated circuit industry performed exceptionally well in the first quarter, with a global market size expected to exceed $1.5 trillion
Wang Junjie, Executive Secretary General of the China Semiconductor Industry Association, stated at the 2026 China (Shenzhen) Integrated Circuit Summit that China's integrated circuit industry deviated from the cyclical pattern in the first quarter and reached its peak at the beginning of 2026. The shipment volume remained basically the same as the fourth quarter of 2025, and the domestic integrated circuit manufacturing industry led the growth in the first quarter. The global semiconductor market is expected to exceed $1.5 trillion this year. There is a structural supply-demand imbalance in the industry, with storage manufacturers experiencing a sharp increase in profits, and both the quantity and price of OEM and packaging testing processes rising. Original equipment manufacturers for mobile phones are facing profit pressure.
