Tim Draper: Missing out on Coinbase early on because it was judged that retail investors were adopting it too early
Draper Associates founder Tim Draper stated that he did not invest in Coinbase early on because he believed that retail cryptocurrency adoption still needed a long time, rather than because he did not approve of Brian Armstrong. Tim Draper had already invested in Coinlab at the time, and his son Adam Draper provided Brian Armstrong with the first check. Tim Draper subsequently participated in Coinbase's next round of funding. Coinbase was founded and listed by Brian Armstrong and Fred Ehrsam. Coinbase has become a representative investment of Draper Associates Fund V, bringing returns that have doubled the size of the fund.
