Collins: If inflation remains high, support September interest rate hike
According to a report by the Financial Times, the Federal Reserve's Collins stated that the Iran war has intensified the cost of living pressure, and the impoverished population in the United States is struggling to make ends meet. Collins pointed out that businesses and households in the northeastern United States are being squeezed by inflation, with inflation rates exceeding the central bank's 2% target for over five years. Collins currently does not have voting rights in the FOMC. She supports keeping interest rates unchanged in July and believes that the current level of interest rates is slightly contractionary. Collins said that if economic data requires it, she is prepared to raise interest rates and supports raising them as early as September.
