Rapid7 reveals Operation Asterix phishing operation involving 5576 Binance accounts

Rapid7, a cybersecurity company, has revealed an encrypted phishing operation called Operation Asterix, which involved 885000 phone numbers and 5576 Binance accounts. Attackers impersonate Ledger, Trezor, and Exodus to steal mnemonic words and use AI tools for fraud. Out of 316000 mobile phone numbers in Germany, 43066 match encrypted trading accounts. Hacken data shows that phishing attacks and social engineering scams caused $306 million in losses in the first quarter of this year, accounting for the majority of the total $482 million loss in the cryptocurrency industry.
